Abstract
The Abcam case was developed from a study of the organisation in 2002 to 2003. The case study is concerned with the strategic development of a small web-based intermediary in the 'Silicon Fen' of Cambridge, England in the aftermath of the dot com boom and bust. The CEO is faced with some key decisions as to the appropriate business model to pursue in a dynamic and fast growing life science industry.
