Abstract
This case describes how Cummins Engine Corporation implemented a successful long-term strategy to restore its dominant position in the world diesel engine market. The management had to respond to a decline in market share caused by increased global competition and domestic regulation. The key management issue focus is successful strategic decision making followed by effective implementation. This case study has been peer reviewed by the editorial board of the Journal of Strategic Management Education (JSME).
