Abstract

The case is intended to give a detailed insight into the frauds committed by the JVG group of companies. The case examines how the JVG group was able to defraud the investors and the regulatory authorities with ease. The case is so structured as to; (1) highlight the various methods adopted by the JVG group to raise substantial resources successfully over the years and the identification of illegal approaches in garnering them; (2) discuss the deployment of funds and to analyse the causes of failure of the group; and (3) analyse the role and responsibilities of the regulatory authorities in handling the scams in terms of their powers. The case is aimed at the MBA/PGDBA students as part of the finance, accounting and control curriculum.
