Abstract
The case examines the developments in the film insurance business in India in the late 1990s. The hurdles being faced by the industry in dealing with banks, financial institutions (FI) and insurance companies are explored in detail. The case also provides information regarding the solutions to these problems. The case is so structured as to enable students to see how the unorganised nature of the Indian film industry has rendered it ''untouchable'' for the banks/FI/insurers. Students can gain insights into the industry''s problems (for instance the industry/underworld nexus) besides understanding the emerging film insurance business. The case is aimed at MBA/PGDBA students, and is intended to be a part of the finance, accounting and control curriculum.
