Abstract
This is the eighth of an eight-case series (301-146-1 to 301-149-1 and 302-037-1 to 302-040-1). This case describes German-based Schering AG. During the period 1998-1999, the company conducted business worldwide in four key areas: fertility control and hormone therapy, therapeutics, diagnostics, and dermatology. The case offers a summary of activity in these areas. Revenue and balance sheet information is also provided. May be used alone or with others in the series Global Biotechnology Winners. Suitable for graduate MBA and executive level courses in strategy, corporate strategy, and strategy relating to biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
