The case study discusses the problems faced by one of the most successful Internet companies in the world. The case discusses the mistakes Yahoo! made and how they eventually led to a reshuffling of the top management. The case is designed to familiarise students with the reasons behind the failure of one of the world''s most successful portals. At the end of the case the students should have developed a general understanding of the following (1) revenue model of a portal; (2) emerging trends in the portal industry; and (3) pitfalls of relying on just one major source of revenue. The case is aimed at MBA/PGDBA students, and is intended to be a part of the strategy and general management curriculum.
