Abstract
Instant Relaxation Technique is a proven technique for achieving (with practice) a deep state of relaxation for learning. Such relaxation is directly related to a confidence to learn. The learner avoids wasting energy on emotional stress, and can concentrate on active co-operation with the learning process. Learner comfort is a priority for efficient and effective learning. It needs to be physical, social and psychological. The learner seeks not only to be relaxed but also to be in control of the learning, able and confident to play an active, not merely a passive role, in the process. The IRT technique is given in exhibit A in the case. Many creative variations are possible and are effective. Be aware of the cognitive distortions outlined in exhibit B in the case, which so often brings needless stress to the learner. This simple ''Instant Relaxation Technique'' can be used anywhere (eyes open or closed) to achieve a calm mind without anger, anxiety, pain or stress ready and confident to learn or deal with any new problem that may have to be faced without any effort at all.
