Abstract

The case deals with the changes brought on the operational front at Crompton Greaves. The case examines in detail the changes made in the Nashik switchgear factory of the company. The efficacy of these changes is also discussed. The case is designed to enable students to understand how minor changes on the operations front can result in major gains in productivity. The students should in particular grasp the concepts of value added management and the Single Piece Flow system and their benefits. The concepts of Kaizen, Andon etc, should also be understood by the students. The case is aimed at MBA/PGDBA level students as a part of the production and operations management curriculum.
