Abstract

In the first part of this three-part note we describe the defining features of the world wide web and the role this played in the creation of the so called ''Internet Economy''. In the second part of this case we illustrate the role that information technology has played in the ''Internet Economy'' with special reference to Moore''s law, Gilder''s law and Metcalfe''s law. In part three the technology milestones enabling us to get to the ''Internet Economy'' are illustrated.
