Abstract

Four case histories of Alaskans'' ventures into the frontier-like Russian Far East stimulate discussion of new international ventures. The conventional wisdom in many textbooks assumes a stable commercial and legal environment and is thus not appropriate when considering many new emerging markets. These cases help provide a framework for such an analysis. This case was sponsored by the Indiana University CIBER Case Collection.
