Abstract

This case focuses on a decision concerning the Commit Group''s future strategies. Commit is a Finnish software company consisting of five sister companies. It had so far financed all its product development from cash flow; the company had no debts. Now outside financing would be needed if the company''s pride, Chaos - a software tool - was to be further developed. The decision to borrow for product development would include other issues as well, such as expansion, not only in Finland but also abroad. Strategic, organisational and even human resource dimensions are inherent in the issue, which can be analysed from the perspective of the Group''s CEO.
