Abstract
This case was written in 1994, shortly after Latvia regained her independence. At that time, most Finnish commercial banks were considering the possibilities of moving into the Baltic market. Also Vice- President of International Commercial Banking Operations at Finnex Bank in Helsinki, Finland, was examining the potential to establish commercial banking operations in Latvia''s emerging banking industry. Existing Latvian banking industry is illustrated in great detail in this case.
