Abstract

In 2000, Stora Enso, a large paper-and-pulp corporation of Finnish and Swedish origin, was pondering the future directions of fine paper sales. The competition had been active particularly in moving to e-commerce. Would e-commerce have a real effect on fine paper distribution and what would be the consequences of really entering e-commerce? Also, Stora Enso''s customers seemed to expect some innovative ideas and solutions in the future. The 200 employees of the fine paper division and the fine paper sales of EUR 4 billion could not be jeopardized in any way. He decided to do a thorough analysis of the situation in the fine paper business.
