Abstract
This case describes a very recent turnaround. It discusses the symptoms and causes of decline and takes the students through the different stages of a turnaround. The case provides a backdrop to the resources industry and shows how sensitive the industry is to small fluctuations in demand and supply. It analyses the sequence and timing of the steps the new CEO and his management team had taken in 1999 to re-position the company.
