Abstract
This is the first of a two-case series (300-046-1 and 300-047-1). Right before NAFTA negotiations have been finally concluded, Corning of upstate New York and Vitro, a huge Mexican glass manufacturer, have negotiated a joint venture agreement. The negotiations included topics such as cross-distribution, manufacturing, brand equity, and the development of joint defensive and offensive strategies in anticipation of the creation of NAFTA. This case was sponsored by the Indiana University CIBER Case Collection.
