In October 1998, the Committee on Singapore''s Competitiveness issued its final report to Prime Minister Goh. The report outlined a series of proposals to see Singapore through the Asian Economic Crisis and to further enhance the long development of Singapore''s economy. The case allows for discussion of the appropriateness and sufficiency of the committee''s proposals as well as the process through which they were developed. This case is best used after ''Singapore: The Lion City in the Asian Crisis'' (399-029-1), a case which fully outlines the economic situation in Singapore in the period leading up to the committee report.
