Abstract
This case encompasses a variety of issues related to technology management for multi-national corporations, technology adoption decisions, industry virtualisation, manufacturer-supplier relationships, experience-curve based cost analysis and cultural issues important to multi-national corporations in pursuit of better co-ordination and integration across divisions. These issues are presented in the context of an overseas assignment for a technology manager in the global automobile industry. The focus is on development of technology-related strategy for a supplier division of a vertically integrated multi-national automobile manufacturer. This case was sponsored by the Indiana University CIBER Case Collection.
