Abstract

This supporting video is to accompany the case. The case consists of a near complete business plan for the launch of a new radio franchise in the St Albans and Watford area. The plan's goal is to raise venture capital from the traditional sources such as 3i or CIN (the venture capital arm of a pension fund): the amount involved some GBP230,000. The case has an executive summary, introduction, marketing strategy, competitive analysis, operational plans, organisational chart and short CVs of the five management team members. Each section of the plan has a financial quantification; there is a sales forecast over three years, a cash from sales forecast, a marketing expenditure budget alongside forecasts of salaries and other outflows. The main teaching goal is to get participants to produce a complete set of financial forecasts, assessing the attractiveness of the venture along the way.
