Abstract
This case is a one session illustration. It shows the challenges the leading cement group faces after changes in the industry and competitive environment. The analysis results in a rethinking of the so far technology focused management approach and leads to advancing into the area of people and knowledge management. For example, all necessary organisational changements are described and tools to foster learning are presented. The case also compares 'Holderbank's approach with other companies in the domain and develops recommendations on the improvement of 'Holderbank's practice. An extensive bibliography is added. 'Holderbank' is a 'pioneer' in developing and using Knowledge Management. The case allows the reader to recommend a suitable approach to the issue. Concrete Projects are then presented in the case 'Company and Group Learning at 'Holderbank'.
