Abstract
This is the second of a three-case series which can be used individually or in conjunction with each other. The case is a half-session illustration. It shows the challenges a leading technology company faces by introducing teleworking. HP telecommuters are presented and the impact of telecommuting to their personal life as well as implications for the company are discussed. HP had to overcome frustrations, so thoughts about the future direction include changes in the company's vision 'HP way', pre-telecommuting training and new recruitment practices. HP is a 'pioneer' in developing and using teleworking. The case allows the reader to recommend a suitable approach to the issue and offers many different and tested alternatives in order to rethink the modern workplace.
