Abstract
Franchise have a relevant role in the current economy, reaching 20% of the retail trade in Europe. However, in the particular case of Spain, this percentage is only 3%; there are 700 brands, around 25,000 shops and 100,000 workers. Franchise are an expanding business with an excellent future; it is the unique way of combining costs, labour flexibility and creativity of the small business with scale economies, marketing and the research capacity of the big companies. Bike Chips manager, a company whose main activity is the sale of chips using a special bicycle, is analysing the possibility of establishing a franchise system as a way of expanding his business. This case contains colour exhibits.
