Abstract
The case focuses on the clinicians and managers in an acute NHS Trust using technological innovation to resolve the problem of meeting more demands with the same resources as a consequence of the Calman Report. The case study demonstrates that problem solving is an emergent process that requires an understanding of leadership issues and political and cultural perspectives. Although technology is fronted as the solution to the problem the case shows that problem solving is actually about people and change.
