Abstract
This is the first of a two-case series (198-032-1 and 198-033-1). Suitable for a session on Information Economics, it outlines the low profile, building block approach taken by one of the company directors. It illustrates the development of effective Information Systems in a developing country for a largely trading outfit where the investment can at least be justifiable or the relevance of IS difficult to conceptualise. The main objective is for participants to assess the efficiency of the director''s past decisions and their impact on company operations, as well as suggest possible future developments for IS within the organisation.
