Abstract
General Electric has been manufacturing artificial industrial diamonds since the mid-1960s. In doing so it has challenged the DeBeers diamond cartel for market share. In 1992 Ed Russell claimed he was fired by GE for divulging a price-fixing scheme between his employer and DeBeers. GE claims it fired Russell for poor executive performance. Based on Ed Russell''s allegations the United States Anti-Trust Division also began proceedings against General Electric. As the trials develop many unsavoury details about GE''s operations are divulged as the company attempts to defend itself and to protect the reputations of the various executives accused of wrong-doing.
