Abstract

This is the first of a two-case series (395-005-1 and 395-006-1) looking at an innovative collaboration between St James''s Hospital, Leeds, and Lucas Engineering System Ltd Project (A) outlines the redesign of the admission process to the urology ward and the formation of a ''natural group'' to implement new systems, previously undertaken by the hospital''s central functions. Lucas were keen to investigate the transferability of some of their techniques that have led to increased efficiency in manufacturing plants.
