Abstract
This is an excerpt from the second of a two case series (395-079-1 and 395- 080-1) focusing on the business plan and what it takes to start a new business. The plan is for a chain of fresh Italian bakery shops at a time when similar fresh baked goods were not readily available on a wide scale in the UK. While the plan is simple and straightforward, there are a number of complicated market and operational issues involved in actually getting the business going. Following starting-up, the company falters and the business concept has to be modified.
