Abstract
David Potter, owner and founder of Psion, has to decide whether or not to launch the "Organiser", a totally novel hardware product. Psion has grown rapidly through writing games software for the home computer market. However, recently the company completely switched direction and has now developed a business applications software product. The business software, to be sold by two major hardware companies as part of new computer packages, is potentially highly lucrative. However, there is major uncertainty regarding the timing and level of the revenues. Revenues from the games software portfolio are expected to decline, and the company is facing further financial problems with an overseas associate company. The case examines the process of seizing growth opportunities with limited resources. What are the risks and rewards of launching the Organiser?
