Bejam was the largest retailer of frozen food in the UK and occupied a specialist niche in food retailing. As the supermarket chains searched out new product areas, the case focuses on Bejam''s ability to maintain its high growth rate. In 1979 it had diversified into fast food restaurants, but quickly withdrew. The case enables students to study the dynamics of the food retailing industry.
