Abstract
This short note is intended to be used in conjunction with the case Courier 5 - A Privately Owned Newspaper in Bulgaria (393-061-1). It describes the general context for private firms in Bulgaria in the year 1989-1991 and quotes an anonymous article referring to four types of ''successful'' Bulgarian entrepreneurs: members of the old ''shadow'' economy; returning emigrants; ''gamblers'', and ''true entrepreneurs''.
