Abstract
The case presents the helicopter industry and its main structural features on a world-wide basis. Detailed company profiles of the ten main competitors are included. The purpose of this case is to emphasize the impact of industry structure on the strategies implemented by the various competitors in the industry and, in particular, on their alliance and co-operation strategies. The case discussion will include: identifying the main forces driving competition in the helicopter industry; building the map of strategic groups in the industry; determining the strategic moves that each competitor - or group of competitors - should make to improve its position in the industry; selecting the adequate international alliances the firms in the industry should form.
