Abstract
In 1988 an advertisement appeared in a Sunday newspaper for management consultants for a medium-sized consulting division of a large financial services company. The case gives details of the advertisement and the response to the advertisement by a MBA student. The response comprises a letter of application and a curriculum vitae. Both documents have strengths and weaknesses. The case provides an opportunity for graduate and post-graduate students to explore the job application process from the perspectives of the players involved who have very different views, experiences and values.
