The Taurus Hungarian Rubber Works is attempting to diversify into profitable areas in an industry experiencing increasing concentration and only marginal profits. The firm has decided to pursue a strategy of growth through joint ventures, and diversifications into specialty rubber porducts. After reviewing the company''s product strengths and weaknesses, as well as the industry''s long-term outlook, its Director of Strategic Management is about to suggest a major restructuring of its strategic business units. This case deals primarily with strategy implementation and presents those materials actually used by the company''s strategic manager as part of his decision making process.
