Abstract
This case was designed as an MBA-level strategic management game. Participants in groups make decisions, over a number of rounds, on factors such as price and advertising. In contrast to many available business games, CONFIGURATION allows businesses with different market structures (or configurations) to compete over a number of markets. Given that the businesses start ''unequal'' (the game organiser can select starting businesses from a library of business types), participants cannot simply be compared on their finish position (e.g. one business has made more profit than another business) but should be compared on the quality of their strategic decision making. The supportive software (190-028-0) models the competitive markets and provides updated management information. This case is part of a series which includes a technical note (190-028-6) and software (190-028-0).
