Abstract

The case illustrates the use of a costing model to compute annual schedules of vehicle and equipment hire charges in a Government Ministry of a small developing country in the Caribbean. The use of micro-computer based spread-sheets to relieve the tedium of the repetitive calculations can be usefully incorporated in the assignment. Alternatively, a computer program can be written to facilitate computations. The discussion of the case can be extended to include the conceptual design and evaluation of a suitable CBMIS (Computer Based Management Information System) to provide timely and relevant management information for decision making in the Ministry.
