The case concerns a door manufacturer moving to a new Advance Factory. Management decides on the layout without due consideration of alternatives, but wishes to increase output and reduce overtime. Demand is seasonal and storage space is limited. Alternative solutions are suggested in the teaching note, using DCF techniques and simulation to evaluate the possibilities.
