Abstract

Yere Tree is a privately owned seven unit hotel and catering company once successful but now experiencing problems created by the increasingly laissez-faire management approach of its founder. The case gives written and accounting data for student analysis and posits the creation of two divisions utilising cook-chill and the upgrading of the hotel division as an overall strategy for consideration. This case has been used as an interdisciplinary tool for stimulating a more holistic approach to problem identification, problem analysis and problem solving in students who are studying a multi disciplinary catering management course.
