Abstract
This case is designed to form the basis of a seminar aimed at exploring some of the key issues involved in establishing an effective network of social services provision in a multicultural area. The case study provides participants with a basic information profile and set of development proposals taken from an actual town, and invites them, working within teams, to produce their own assessment of the priority needs and to devise their own proposals for dealing with them. At the conclusion of the seminar, participants return to a plenary session in which each team presents its proposals, thus generating a discussion on the efficacy of the different approaches employed and the key issues which have come to the fore during the teams'' deliberations.
