Abstract
This case deals with the strategy and structure of a business area within a complex chemical industry multinational. The case permits the discussion of advanced systems of portfolio planning, and exposes some of the organisational difficulties which can emerge in the implementation of such systems. The case permits students to explore organisational problems in detail and to suggest potential solutions bearing in mind the overall political realities of the organisational climate in which they are operating.
