Abstract
The case describes the development of a company from private ownership to that of employee ownership. Details are given of the constitution of the operating company and the ''Commonwealth'' which owns the operating company. Employee attitudes to the company are explained. Details of the performance of the company over the 20 year period of employee ownership are given. This includes the distribution of the profits. The case can be used to discuss concepts of employee ownership and profit sharing and their impact on the success of the operating company. Comparisons can be drawn between Scott Bader and conventionally operated companies.
