Abstract
This background note is to accompany the case 'The Denim Jeans Manufacturing Model'. The abstract of the case is as follows: The case, which is based on a simulation of the manufacture of denim jeans, was produced to introduce a dynamic element into case work. Whilst it is concerned with encouraging students to consider the adequacy of an existing raw material, production and demand situation, it provides sufficient background information about systems dynamics to allow students to produce models of their own and it may also provide the basis for the development of more dynamic cases covering all aspects of the business system.
