Abstract

A company dealing with scrap iron and vehicle parts procures 50% of its commodities from the Defense Property Disposal Agency. This agency sells the used material of the US Forces in Europe by submissions. The material offered is described in a sales pamphlet and can be surveyed and classified by the prospective purchaser. The manager owner of the company is now preparing the sealed bid. Information on the past bidding behaviour of some competitors is given; further restrictions to the company''s activities (pending contracts, restricted capacity, etc.) have to be considered.
