Abstract
This note may be used as an accompaniment to cases on social responsibility and strategy formulation. It provides students with information on society''s uses of water and US legislation on water pollution, so that they may appreciate both a company''s need to be socially responsible in its use of water, and its need to prepare for increased legislative restrictions in the matter of water pollution control. US anti-pollution legislation is cited up to and including 1972. Information not concerned with legislation (e.g. on the ethics of water pollution) can apply to any time from about 1950 onwards.
