Abstract
This case deals with the strategy and structure developed by a leading UK paper industry company in response to threats from a changing environment. The case deals fairly extensively with a strategy of diversification by acquisition and some of the management organisation problems this creates. It can be taught individually and in conjunction with Bowater Paper Corporation Ltd (A) (374-028-1). At Manchester Business School it has also been used in a mergers project with Bowater as the proposed target.
