Abstract

This sequential case series (473-185-1 to 473-187-1) describes some of the problems faced by a newly appointed Principal whose predecessor had adopted an autocratic style to which college staff had become accustomed. Part 1 describes the timidity of the Registrar and the lack of discipline applied to students by academic staff. This case may be used to illustrate the management of change, especially in relation to management style and the nature of authority.
