In order to facilitate productivity bargaining, phase one managerial grid training was introduced by senior management. ''Before and after'' questionnaires and interviews were held by researchers with grid trainees; detailed data is presented. It is useful to base the discussion of this case on some study of the RR Blake et al article ''Breakthrough in Organisation Development'', Harvard Business Review, Vol42; 1964.
