Abstract
This is part of a case series. The case follows the (A) and (B) cases, both of which must be read first. A decision is taken to implement standards in the data processing section. Attention now focuses on problems of control, against financial budgets and against either delay or projects failing to meet specification. Costing is necessary to justify internal effort against external services. Cost and benefits must be compared, and a charging system to user departments recommended. The case also indicates the action taken in response to the problems faced in (B).
