Abstract
Bird''s training officer, John Nightingale, considered that communications within the company were very poor. After some effort, he won higher management over to a policy of providing all levels of management and supervision with adequate advance information about matters which affected them. A severe test came when the company put ''The Hawk'' model on the market - it was not fully tested, and it was overpriced. Nightingales problem was ''How much to tell, and how to tell it?''
