Abstract
The A case describes the career of Robert O''Neill, Executive of Fairfax County, Northern Virginia, one of the highest per capta income counties in the US. The events leading up to his hiring by Fairfax County, his experience as County Executive, and the situation at the end of the case with results, current political environment, and an alternative job offer are all described. Students gain insight into the complexities of county government including financial, legal, political, public relations, and strategic business management as well as into Mr. O''Neill''s leadership strategy. The one page B case (UVA-OB-0703) describes his decision and rationale and a few subsequent events in the county. Undisguised.
