Abstract

A diverse workplace allows companies to better read and respond to the needs of multicultural markets and welcomes innovative thinking and problem solving by introducing a great variety of approaches to the workplace. Although workplace diversity is often difficult to discuss, it is an issue that simply must be addressed in a significant way. This article distills the major arguments--economic, moral, and innovative-- for a diverse workplace and offers a prescription for a successful workplace diversity initiative. The article also points out that biases come from all groups and that everyone must take at least some responsibility for the issue.
