Teams have become a ubiquitous feature of the business landscape. Only recently, however, have organizations begun wrestling with the challenge of how to compensate teams and their members. Following a brief discussion of the evolution of employee compensation, the article divides teams into three different categories--parallel teams, project teams, and work teams--and presents a strategy for compensating each.
